Textual Analysis.

This school magazine was found on google images. Firstly, it uses a sans serif font and some words are in bold. This highlights the key words ('back' and 'school'). The sans serif font makes the magazine look modern and up to date, therefore appealing to a young audience as well as parents and teachers.
The colour scheme used on this magazine is orange pink and green and follows a conventional magazine front cover, sticking to the rule of three colours. There are no full stops, which again follows the convention, this makes the magazine look professional and modern.
There is an image of a student (mid-shot) with a direct mode of address and this creates eye contact with the audience, in turn, making it appear friendly.
There is a burst, highlighted in yellow. This makes it look more 'school like' and goes against the colour scheme, making it stand out more than the other points, so it looks important and like a key piece of information.

Textual Analysis.

The title of the magazine is in a sans serif font, and in capitals, attracting the readers attention. Also the use of the colour yellow makes it stand out and become noticeable. There is a double, close up shot without a direct mode of address which goes against the magazine convention of having a mid-shot with direct mode of address. This could make the magazine appear edgy and unique. There colour scheme of the magazine is yellow, red and blue. This follows the convention of magazines using a 3 part colour scheme. The speech bubbles on the cover make it appear more friendly and chatty, therefore appealing to a wider audience because it looks less serious. The magazine uses a mixture of capitals and lower case text. The key pieces of information are in capitals and additional points are made in lower case letters. There is use of punctuation, which magazines usually miss out, commas were used which are not seen very often on front pages. Along with punctuation like full stops and colons.

Tasks.

My main task is to create a front page, contents and double page spread of a new music magazine. But first, my preliminary task is to produce a front page of a school magazine featuring a photograph of a student (medium close up shot)  and some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead.
