Convensions of a Music Magazine Contents Page
The first thing i noticed about this contents page is the face that the front cover is copied onto the page and is used as a diagram to show readers where the sell lines articles are. I thought that this could be appealing to the target audience as it is easy and clear to understand with the use of arrows and page numbers, and over complicated, busy and wordy layouts can be intimidating and can put people off the magazine. This links into my next point, the page numbers and titles are put into categories. The reader can choose the most appealing category or use it to help them find an article they were interested in from the front page (can also use the diagram). The most appealing articles and pages have been highlighted in yellow - this is very eye catching but it also looks as if its been done by hand, this therefore makes the magazine come across in a friendly way. There is use of the convensional 3 colour scheme - yellow pink and white. These colours appeal to the target reader as they are feminine, bright and connote happiness. Interestingly, there is use of a serif font on the page numbers, this is very unusual of a magazine of this type as handwritten or sans serif fonts are usually used because they are less formal. There are uses of many different fonts, this makes it look a little bit like a scrapbook which would appeal to the audience as there is lots of different things to look at. The page isnt labelled 'contents' but instead 'Inside the mag...'. This uses colloquial language that is familiar to younger people and the magazine looks up to date and modern. It makes it easy to relate to.
