This is one front cover of the Top of the Pops magazine. It is bright and colourful and the model/celebrity usually has a direct mode of address. By making eye contact with the audience it encourages people to buy the magazine as it seems friendly. Front covers usually have different fonts, with bold and italics. This magazine uses all sans serif fonts because it looks more modern and the target audience is younger people, so this would appeal to them as a serif font could look too formal. The title is at the top of the page and it is partly covered by the model. This is deliberate as it makes the reader become familiar with the title of the magazine and makes the reader part of an 'exculsive club' of readers that are fimiliar with the magazine. It frequently has splashes and sell lines. The cover is quite busy and this signifies there is a lot inside and therefore the reader gets value for money, which means they are more likely to buy the magazine. There is also a 3 colour scheme - in this case pink, purple and yellow. These colours are typically quite child like and bright so connote happiness and femininity, which appeals to the target audience.
From this analysis I found that:
- a magazine front cover is typically very busy.
- the talent are happy and smiley.
- the talent is usually photographed in a long to mid shot.
- there is a 3 colour scheme.
- sans serif fonts are used.
- many of the sell lines are exclamatory.
- there are smaller images of whos inside the magazine.
- the talent is a music artist.
- the focus isn't necessarily music but music and celebrity gossip.
