Convensions of a Music Magazine Cover

This is another top of the pops magazine front cover. Like the last one I analysed it is colourful and eye catching. But in contrast to the other front cover there are 3 models on the front, however they still have a direct mode of address, which creates interaction and eyecontact with the reader, and this is makes the audience feel more obliged to buy it. This magazine uses all sans serif fonts and this makes it look up to date and trendy. There is also a mixture of bold and italics. The cover has sell lines with colloquial language, for example 'OMG!', which appeals to the target audience as they would be familiar with this type of language. The title is at the top of the page in an eye catching colour (pink - appeals to females which are the target audience) and has a sell line 'more gossip! more scandal! more you!'. This sell line uses repetition and it has short sentences that are easier to remember. On this cover, the sell line is partially covered by the photograph of the talent. But, this means that readers feel a part of an 'exclusive club' because they would know the sell line and this shows that the magazine has frequent readers that buy each issue of the magazine. The cover of this magazine is very busy and is covered in sell lines and has some splashes. This indicates there is alot inside and therefore value for money, so this encourages the audience to buy the magazine. It also has a 3 colour scheme which is pink purple and yellow (the same as the other cover I analysed). I looked at other top of the pops magazine covers and found that pink is a colour that is used in the scheme very often. Pink has connotations of femininity and this appeals to the target audience.
